Where does the water temperature come from?
From the nearest wave buoy or shore station, corrected for your spot with the last week of readings. If no station is close, Saltglass says so and shows a model estimate in grey.
Why does it say "think twice" when the sea looks calm?
Usually because the wind will turn onshore within the hour, or the tide is about to run hard past the point. Tap the verdict to see which reading tipped it.
Can I add my own spot?
Yes, on Pro: long-press the map, name the spot and pick which way the beach faces. Forecasts start within fifteen minutes.
Check-ins
What happens if I forget to tap "I'm out"?
Saltglass sends you a notification five minutes before your time is up. If you still don't answer, your buddy gets a text with your spot and when you went in.
Does my buddy need the app?
No. They only need a phone that can receive texts.
Account
How do I move Pro to a new phone?
Sign in with the same email on the new phone. Your log comes along if encrypted sync is on.
How do I delete my account?
Settings, Account, Delete. Everything we hold is gone within 24 hours; your log on the phone stays until you delete the app.
Tell us your phone and the app version (Settings, About) if something's broken. A person reads every message, usually within a working day.
