What's new

Every release, in plain words

What changed in Saltglass and why, newest first. We ship about once a month, more often when the sea teaches us something.

  1. Version 2.4iPhone · Apple WatchLatest

    Check-ins for two

Swimming with a friend? One check-in now covers both of you, and either of you can end it.

    • Shared check-ins: invite a second swimmer to your check-in; both of you can tap “I’m out”.
    • Watch: the timer ring is bigger and easier to read with goggles on.
    • The reminder before your time is up now arrives five minutes early instead of two.
    • Fixed: the tide curve could start an hour late after the clocks changed.
  2. Version 0.9 betaAndroid

    Android beta, round two

The Android beta now has check-ins and widgets, and the forecast loads twice as fast on older phones.

    • Check-ins on Android, with the same texts to your buddy as on iPhone.
    • Widgets for the home screen: the verdict, the water and the tide.
    • The forecast loads twice as fast on phones with less memory.
    • Thank you to everyone who sent feedback from the first round.
  3. Version 2.3iPhone

    Offshore or onshore

Wind is now shown the way it matters on the beach, blowing off the land or onto it, for every spot.

    • Wind for your beach: every spot knows which way it faces, so wind reads “offshore” or “onshore” instead of a bearing.
    • The verdict explains which reading tipped it when you tap it.
    • Spots you’ve starred come first in the list.
  4. Version 2.2iPhone · Apple Watch

    The swim log

Every check-in now becomes a swim in your log, with its spot, time in the water and temperature.

    • Swim log: swims are saved from your check-ins, or added by hand.
    • Seasons: see your swims from spring to spring.
    • The watch logs distance with its GPS when you start a check-in from it.
  5. Version 2.1iPhone

    Widgets everywhere

The verdict, the water and the tide on your home screen and lock screen.

    • Home screen widgets in three sizes.
    • Lock screen widgets for the water temperature and your swim window.
    • Fixed: Fahrenheit was shown with one decimal too many.
  6. Version 2.0iPhone · Apple Watch

    Saltglass 2

A new look made of glass and water, the hour-by-hour forecast, and check-ins.

    • New design: every screen rebuilt around the morning’s one question.
    • Hour by hour: seven days of waves, wind and water temperature, good hours marked.
    • Check-ins: your buddy gets a text if you’re not out on time.
    • Apple Watch app with complications.
